After sharing my Summer TBR and Hot series / movies to watch this summer, it just makes sense to share my favorites summer readings. If you are looking for a fun, hot reading for the beach and pool days, here is the list you need:
The Summer I Turned Pretty
This is my favorite summer book series. There isn’t another book or tv show that makes me feel so inspired for summer time than this one, so it’s not surprise that is my top one to recommend for summer reading. Perfect to read by beach side.
Sinopse: “Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer—they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.”
The Summer of Broken Rules
I gave a 3* for this one, okay? But I can’t keep it out of this list. Although I would tweek a little of the story, it’s still a good summer beach side reading. You have swims scenes, bike rides, whole family reunion and a sweet summer romance. Is an easy summer read perfect for beach side reading.
Sinopse: “Meredith Fox has been going to Martha’s Vineyard for the summer as long as she can remember. But this summer is the first one back since the death of Meredith’s sister. It will all be overwhelming, but even more since since the entire extended family will be together for her cousin’s big wedding.”
Something Borrowed
As I recommended on the Hot series / movies to watch this summer, if you’re looking for a cute but “can’t be together” love story with summer in the city vibes, this is my favorite. I loved the movie so much that I had to read the book and I can say that isn’t far behind.
Sinopse: “Something Borrowed tells the story of Rachel, a young attorney living and working in Manhattan. Rachel has always been the consummate good girl—until her thirtieth birthday, when her best friend, Darcy, throws her a party. That night, after too many drinks, Rachel ends up in bed with Darcy’s fiancé. Although she wakes up determined to put the one-night fling behind her, Rachel is horrified to discover that she has genuine feelings for the one guy she should run from. As the September wedding date nears, Rachel knows she has to make a choice. In doing so, she discovers that the lines between right and wrong can be blurry, endings aren’t always neat, and sometimes you have to risk all to win true happiness. Something Borrowed is a phenomenal debut novel that will have you laughing, crying, and calling your best friend.”
The Royal Runaway
I read this book a long time ago, but I loved it, and one of the best scenes I remember is set on an island. So I’m using this blogpost to recommend it if you feel like reading a hot love story but without the summer vibes.
Sinopse: “For fans of The Princess Diaries and The Royal We comes a fun and daring novel about a modern-day princess who teams up with a spy to find out what happened to the fiancé who left her at the altar—and who just might get her own fairytale in the process. Princess Theodora Isabella Victoria of Drieden of the Royal House Laurent is so over this princess thing. After her fiancé jilted her on their wedding day, she’s finally back home after spending four months in exile—aka it’s back to press conferences, public appearances, and putting on a show for the Driedish nation as the perfect princess they expect her to be. But Thea’s sick of duty. After all, that’s what got her into this mess in the first place. So when she sneaks out of the palace and meets a sexy Scot named Nick in a local bar, she relishes the chance to be a normal woman for a change. But just as she thinks she’s found her Prince Charming for the night, he reveals his intentions are less than he’s the brother of her former fiancé, a British spy, and he’s not above blackmail. As Thea reluctantly joins forces with Nick to find out what happened the day her fiancé disappeared, together they discover a secret that could destroy a centuries-old monarchy and change life as they know it. Funny, fast-paced, and full of more twists and turns than the castle Thea lives in, The Royal Runaway is a fresh romantic comedy that will leave you cheering for the modern-day royal who chucks the rulebook aside to create her own happily-ever-after.”
