It took me 2 years to finally give in to my Kobo and become an ebook reader. The physical feeling of opening a brand new book, turning its pages and see the physical progression on my reading kept me postponing it. But after years of trying, it finally happened… I’m an eReader lover.
Scribd made a big impact on that for me. After months of using the subscription on my phone, I knew I needed a better option for my eyesight. I considered a new Kindle, which heard it had an integration with the app, but after discovering that “Kindle” was actually just an Amazon tablet and not an e-ink device, I had to let Scribd go and finally found what I was looking for: a reason to finally give my old Kobo a chance and commit to reading on an eReader.
And I’m proud to say that from January to now I never looked back. Here are my reasons why:
1. Reading while breastfeeding
The possibility of finally being able to read while breastfeeding have been a mind blowing fact for me. For T I spent most of my breastfeeding sessions binge watching Netflix, which looking in retrospective was not a good thing for my mindset. This time around I kept my Kobo with me at all times, even and especially when leaving the house. I totally recommend if you are a book lover mom to be.
2. Doesn’t hurt my eyes
Reading for hours without hurting my eyes. It was something that you only discover when you really commit, but after hours reading, your eyes are as good as if it was on paper. Example of that is that I read the last 25% of Funny Story during baby F nap time on Saturday without realizing it.
3. Get any book as quick as I wish to read it
This is especially good when you are binge-reading a series. cof… cof… ACOTAR. But if you live outside a city like me and had to wait at least 24 hours for a book to be delivered to your step door, you are going to understand how exciting it is to be able to continue reading your series with a simple download. Binge reading non stop.
4. Reading without light on
Oh, especially helpful in the summer nights when it’s so warm that the simple nightstand light on can feel to hot. Or when you don’t want to wake the baby sleeping next to you. Or your partner. Or simply to help you fall asleep faster. The night switch mode is always helpful on this point.
And there you have it. I bet that with time I will have much more points to add to this list, but for now these 4 have been the major reasons for my 6 months of (almost exclusive) eReading.
What about you? Did you already commit to an eReader or are you considering it?
