Baby F and me are official out of the 6 weeks survival mode phase, which means that, for me, the hardest part of postpartum is over and we survived! And may I say, thrived!? To celebrate the fact, here are my favorites for this second postpartum as a now mom of two.
Just a quick note to say that my two births were scheduled c-sections in a private hospital, so the type of things I needed during my postpartums may be different from other experiences. Hope this is helpful anyway! :)
Water bottle
The best tip I got while prepping for this phase was to have a water bottle in every corner of your home where you plan on breastfeeding. This was especially helpful during the first couple of weeks, when my mobility was lower. I got a Stanley fake water bottle from Temu during my pregnancy but unfortunately it didn’t close, so I find myself dropping it everywhere and causing almost a flooding every time. I was glad to find this one in Continente for way less and… this one actually closes! It’s 950ml and has been my most used during this phase. I kept the Temu one near the sofa in the living room and this one with me in the bedroom. Now it comes with me everywhere.
Dr Browns Bottle
This was actually a gift we received from our town council. We are lucky to have received a backpack full of useful baby gifts from our town council to celebrate the born of baby F. It was something I was happy to discover while pregnant and made me even more proud to live in our hometown. Although I already knew Dr Browns brand from my research on baby bottles, we have been exclusive users of Philips Avent since baby T, but with baby F suffering with colics and learning how to drink, we decided to try this bottle we received and let me tell you: it has been a total difference for him. We also have a Chicco Natural Feeling, so basically, we have the more recommended baby bottles of the market, but this one was the one that really worked. So, if you have a fussy baby that doesn’t know well how to eat, even from the bottle, and suffers from colics, give it a try.
Maxi-Cosi Zelia S trio
This was the first thing we decided we needed to buy as soon as we knew baby F was coming. We were lucky to have a family Maxi-Cosi trio landed to us for Baby T that had 15 years. Yes, you read it right: 15 years! And after 3 babies, it was pratically perfect. So when we decided to invest in a lighter new trio, I didn’t thought more: I wanted a Maxi-Cosi. We decided on the Zelia S which, for everything that brings, is pretty affordable. I may say it’s not a trio for a lot of exercise but, for us, it’s pretty enough and we are very happy with it.
Hospital maternity pads
One thing I did different while leaving the hospital this time around, and due to learning it from some american Youtube videos, was to bring all the disposables from my hospital room that I may be needing at home(in a private hospital, they are already paid by your insurance). The best one was the hospital undies (yes, I used all mine until I didn’t have any more left, and each for more than one day in a row, I don’t care what you may think, it was the best thing to wear to fit all the maternity pads I needed plus not hurt me on my c-section incision), the second was the maternity pads. Yes, I used them all and asked André to find more at the supermarket, which unfortunately he didn’t find, but I found this image from Amazon, so maybe you may find it there? If you do, grab a package. They are way better for the first weeks than the heavier flow period night pads I could find and stocked on.*
Bed pads
The third thing I bought home with me from the hospital and, still have some stocked, are bed pads. I used them in our bed until I stopped bleeding (we are parents of two now, we don’t have time to be changing our sheets all the time I may bleed the bed 😉 ). And this past week again when I developed a mastitis and had to stop using my nursing pads. It was very helpful and I may be buying more when babies stop using their diapers at night.
Leggings & top matching set
This Lefties’ leggings and top matching set have been my go-to outfit every time I need to leave the house and want to feel quickly put together. I bought it during my postpartum shopping spree I promised myself to take as soon as I was aloud to leave the house with our baby. I knew I wanted some comfortable but sexy and pretty outfits and this one totally nailed it. I have also bought a matching “pencil” skirt and two long dresses I have been loving. All comfy and make me feel like a cute put-together mom. 😉
And there you have it. My real postpartum favorites for baby F as a now mom of two boys. I have been loving this time with our little family and what I want for you to take from this post is: if it helps, makes it easier or makes you feel happy during postpartum, get it. 🙂
See you next monday!
